Defensive Driving Courses

The AA, NZQA approved, course comprises four 2 hour classroom sessions and a 1 hour in-car drive.

Topics in the classroom sessions include:

  • Assessing risk
  • Identifying hazards
  • Driving behaviours and attitudes to driving
  • Effects of fatigue, alcohol and drugs
  • Assessing their own driving style.

The In-car session requires students to demonstrate the techniques discussed in the classroom and focuses on assessing them for the next licence test they are preparing for (Restricted/Full).

In addition learning takes place through online modules in eDrive where you get to practice your hazard identification skills.

Whilst those on their Restricted licence will get the most benefit from the course it is open to those on a Learner licence.  In both cases successful completion of the course has the additional benefit of reducing the restricted licence period by 6 months.

Courses are run with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 20 participants.
